Social Action
Congregation Sons of Abraham is committed to the concept of Tikkun Olam–literally, “repairing the world”–making the world a better place. To that end, we support various programs for the greater good.
COULEE REGION HUNGER WALK: Congregation Sons of Abraham is one of the founding sponsors of the Coulee Region Hunger Walk.
WARM CLOTHING FOR RELEASED PRISONERS: If you have clean winter gear and warm clothes to donate, especially pants and shoes, please deliver them weekdays Monday through Friday, 1:30 to 4:30 pm, to the Jail Reception Window at 333 Vine Street in La Crosse. (The entrance is nearest the corner of 3rd Street and Vine Street.) When people are arrested during warm weather and released in the winter months, most don’t have warm clothes and coats to wear as they take their first steps toward a new life. Thank you!
DELIVERING MEALS TO SHUT-INS: Mobile Meals of La Crosse prepares meals for elderly and disabled every day of the year. However, they need volunteer drivers to deliver this important cargo. You can volunteer to deliver meals for a day or a week or whenever you can; just call Mobile Meals (608-784-4623) or email them if you have questions about the program. (You can learn about the program with this video or by reading about the delivery procedure here.)
